Actress Julie Delpy Says Black People Have It Easier Than Women

You thought being Black was hard? Try being a woman.

That’s the assertion made by actress Julie Delpy, who said at the Sundance Film Festival that the hardest job in Hollywood is being female.

“Two years ago, I said something about the Academy being very white male, which is the reality, and I was slashed to pieces by the media,” the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” star said in an interview with The Wrap. “It’s funny — women can’t talk. I sometimes wish I were African American because people don’t bash them afterward.”

The 40-something-year-old entertainer added: “It’s the hardest to be a woman. Feminists is something people hate above all. Nothing worse than being a woman in this business. I really believe that.”

Delpy’s response follows the announcement by several stars — including Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee — informing the public that they are boycotting the Oscars due to the lack of diversity in this year’s nominees. Not one actor of color was nominated in the major categories for the Academy Awards this year.
